About The Course

The Certificate of Missional Church Studies introduces the student to the study of the nature of the Church and the theology underlying the new church structures of the emerging and missional church movements - and considers some creative alternatives.

This certificate is meant to be studied in a local church setting under the supervision of your pastor or another mature Christian leader. Help with AIBI courses can be found in the AIBI College Handbook

You must satisfactorily complete the assessment for all 6 subjects to receive the certificate. Assessment for each subject is generally a 1500 word (3 page) essay which will be marked by your pastor or group leader. See the pages relevant to the individual subjects (right) for details.

The Certificate of Missional Church Studies consists of the following six subjects:


The Life & Ministry Of Jesus The Messiah
A step-by-step journey through the life of Jesus. Our view of Jesus affects how we do everything else in the Christian life.


Acts 1-8 - The Primal Church
The earliest years of the church give us patterns for church life and growth.


The Kingdom Of Heaven
Jesus often spoke of the "Kingdom Of Heaven" and the new life and powers it contained. Rediscovery of this is changing how many view the church today.


Beyond Denominations
A brief look at Christian unity, the problem of denominationalism and some creative solutions.


Temples And Tithes
How understanding the true nature of the gospel and the radical freedom we have in Christ impacts on church life and practice.


Key Readings In Church History
Understanding where we have come from and how God has worked in the Church through the ages.
