Life is a journey of growing in awareness.

The child learns to become aware of her body, her fingers, her toes...

Then the cot and the room, the voice of the parents, the dog, the cat...

Then of food and danger, hot and cold, wet and dry...

Words and sounds, right and wrong, pain and pleasure

Then of school and books and knowledge and people and friends and rules.

And suddenly life is complex.

We can be so aware of grades and opinions, profit and loss, image and self that we lose awareness of beauty and truth, of ourselves, our emotions, of the spiritual.

Or pain so focuses us on ourselves that all else is lost and the world seems ugly, botched, random and cruel.

To become aware of LIFE we must learn to become aware of the beauty that is in life, the beauty that is in ourselves (even if we cannot see it) and the beauty there is in God who made all.

This beauty is not easy to see at first. Perhaps we see it in a sunset. Or in the stars. Or we see it in the geometry of nature and the stunning world of the atom. Have a look at the Spiritual Fractals and see how they speak to you.

This web page is about sharing and encouraging the awareness of life. It supplies links to the original writings of great Christian thinkers - the thoughts of great minds and great truths wrestled from life. These are men and women - who have traveled to the far country - and come back to tell us a few things. The ones I find most interesting and significant are marked with a small asterisk.

You can make up your own mind.

Go on your own journey. Find your own beauty.

Is life fundamentally good - or a cruel joke?

Is there beauty in nature? Or is it just a ruthless jungle, the survival of the fittest?

Is there design and intelligence and order around us or is it all a cosmic junkyard, randomly assembled?

Are there such things as right and wrong, beauty and truth, good and evil, justice and injustice?

These are BIG questions.

They will raise your awareness.

Your awareness of who you are in the Cosmos.

Your place. Your meaning.

For one person they may find their meaning in a creed, others in the beautifull lifestyle of St. Francis, or the thoughts of the Pensees. Some may be touched by William Carey's call to mission. And in our time Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech may rouse the propheticconscience in you while others may immerse themselves deeply in the subtle geopolitical realities of Alexander Solzhenitsyn's " A World Split Apart".

Browse, think, pray, feel...become aware.

Become aware of a God who made us and who entered history as Jesus Christ.

Become aware of ourselves - made to be spiritual, now absorbed in clutter and noise and selfishness.

Become aware of a pathway of faith.

Become aware of faith in God and eternity and glory.

Become aware of how far we fall short of it.

Become aware of Jesus leading us along it.

Become aware of what it means to follow Jesus the Messiah.

Become aware of joy and peace and love for all eternity.

Become aware of God.
